Sarah receives MRC Heirloom Brooch

Sarah received one of the 2014 MRC Suffrage Science Heirloom awards, a bespoke brooch designed to be passed down through generations of female scientists.

Sarah was nominated by Dr Elizabeth Murchison “Not only for her world-leading research, technical expertise and contagious enthusiasm about science, but also because of her generosity in supporting and mentoring younger scientists and students”

Dr Diana Fusco has joined the Cavendish this Summer with a Lectureship, to set up a mixed experimental/computational research programme in biological physics. Her team will initially investigate microbial populations, growth and evolution, interactions between bacteria and phages.
